Overactive sweat glands can trigger excessive sweating even without external stimuli, leading to stained clothes and social embarrassment. Dr. Fernandez uses neuromodulators for safe, painless, and non-surgical hyperhidrosis treatment.

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a condition wherein your sweat glands are overactive. This leads to excessive sweating from the hands, feet, armpits, or scalp without external stimuli. If left untreated, hyperhidrosis can lead to stained clothes, discomfort, and embarrassment.

What Causes Hyperhidrosis?

Sweating is a normal response when your body is overheated due to external temperature, overexertion, or physical activities. Your body produces sweat to reduce your body temperature. However, people with hyperhidrosis have overactive sweat glands that make you sweat even without external stimuli. If you deal with hyperhidrosis, you might be a suitable candidate for hyperhidrosis treatments.

  • Have realistic expectations from the treatment
  • Are not pregnant
  • Don’t have a history of severe allergies

Dr. Fernandez will discuss your symptoms and expectations and review your medical history to determine if you’re a suitable candidate for hyperhidrosis treatment. He prioritizes safety above all else and only proceeds with the treatment if you’re deemed to be the ideal candidate.

How Does Hyperhidrosis Treatment Work?

Dr. Fernandez performs hyperhidrosis treatment using neuromodulators, such as Xeomin and Dysport. Neuromodulators carry the active ingredient botulinum toxin type A, which blocks nerve endings from communicating with specific muscles. When injected under the armpits or other areas with overactive sweat glands, neuromodulators temporarily paralyze the sweat glands. This prevents excessive sweating.

What Happens During the Hyperhidrosis Treatment?

During your hyperhidrosis treatment, the targeted areas with overactive sweat glands will be cleansed and numbed with topical anesthesia. Dr. Fernandez will carefully inject Dysport or Xeomin into the targeted areas using ultrafine needles. He selects the ideal dose and injectable based on your specific goals to ensure safe and natural results.

What Are the Side Effects of Hyperhidrosis Treatment?

Hyperhidrosis treatment is safe and painless, but you may experience mild post-treatment redness, bruising, irritating, and discomfort around the treatment areas. The side effects gradually dissipate after a few days, and you can resume your daily activities immediately.

What Are the Results Like?

You may start noticing improvements after 3 to 4 days, with continued improvements for 2 weeks. The final results last for 3 to 4 months, following which you’ll need maintenance treatments.
